Progresif Initiate Human Capital Summit 2023 powered by Progresif Sdn Bhd, a two-day event held last Wednesday, brought together HR practitioners, industry experts, and aspiring professionals to explore the evolving landscape of human resources and its impact on organizational success. Themed around talent transformation, learning and development, employee experience, and well-being, the summit provided a platform for insightful discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities.
The second day of the summit was filled with engaging speaker sessions that covered a wide range of topics, including hybrid working strategies, managing generational gaps in talent, fostering workplace excellence, and building a culture of well-being. Distinguished professionals shared valuable insights into the significance of employee well-being and its connection to overall company success.
To close off the summit, a panel discussion titled “Navigating the Evolving HR Landscape in Brunei” was held. Esteemed panelists included Hajah Zainab MA Omar, Founder and President of the Human Resource Society Brunei; May Leng Kwok, Regional Head APAC of CIPD; and Dr. Norfarizal Othman, Director-General of the Public Service Department. Moderated by Salehin Basir, Human Capital Department Manager at Darussalam Assets, the panel explored crucial aspects of the changing HR landscape in Brunei.
The panelists emphasized the imperative for HR professionals to embrace technology, particularly AI, to enhance efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous learning. Adaptability, risk-taking, and work-life harmony were underscored as key elements for success among employees. The discussion resonated with a call to shift from a survival mindset to a thriving HR business approach, where HR plays a pivotal role in strategic decision-making.
Addressing challenges, the panel stressed HR’s role in adding value to organizations through policies made especially for remote working, targeted training, positive working culture, and strategic decision-making. Central to these discussions was the transformation of HR’s role from administrative to strategic partners, highlighting the collective need for a mindset shift.
The summit concluded with a closing speech by Mohammad Yazdi Bin Haji Yahya, Chief of Human Resources and Administration Office from Progresif. In his speech, Yazdi Yahya shared his hopes and aspirations for the attendees, encapsulating the essence of the summit’s objectives. The speech urged HR professionals to embrace newfound knowledge they have gained during the two-day summit and emphasize both personal growth and the pivotal role of HR in human capital development.
Mohammad Yazdi’s closing remarks resonated with a call to action for HR professionals, underscoring the Importance of passion and innovation were emphasized, and encouraging participants to challenge norms and be agents that drive positive change within their respective organizations. The speech concluded by recognizing the summit’s collective achievement, leaving attendees inspired to lead transformative HR practices.
Amidst the insightful discussions and impactful sessions, attendees shared their reflections on the summit’s significance. Zahra Feisal, an HR scholar from Aston University, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to learn directly from HR practitioners and highlighted the importance of networking with professionals from diverse industries. Nabilah Feisal of Sparks Ventures lauded the summit for inspiring a commitment to skill-building and initiating impactful change not only within companies but also on a national scale. A’isyah Haji Ja’afar, a Master of Management student at UBD, praised the event as an enriching platform, with sessions and exhibitors offering unique perspectives on various HR aspects. These testimonials underscored the summit’s profound impact on attendees, fostering a spirit of continuous learning and transformation in the field of human resources.
